Fleischman: Poizner Policy ‘Aggressive And Impressive’

By Katharine on July 1st, 2009

In a post on his FlashReport blog today, FlashReport publisher Jon Fleischman praised Commissioner Poizner’s bold steps to enforce a new California law prohibiting insurance companies from investing in Iran:

Poizner’s Anti-Terror Funding Policy — Aggressive And Impressive

By Jon Fleischman
FlashReport Blog

I have to admit that I was pretty impressed when I got off of the phone with Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner last Sunday night. When my phone rang, and Poizner was on the other end, I expected to have a chat about his campaign for the GOP Gubernatorial nomination. But actually, he was calling me, in his capacity as Insurance Commissioner, to let me know about a bold new policy that he would be announcing on Monday, launching a funding probe from the Department of Insurance targeting investments made by insurance companies in Iran.

Press Release: Why Won’t Meg Talk?

By Josh on June 30th, 2009

Meg Whitman is back in Bakersfield this evening for a private fundraiser. Will she finally speak to the Bakersfield Californian? One thing is for sure, she won’t talk to KGO Radio’s Ronn Owens. Listen to Ronn with Tom Campbell yesterday wondering why Meg Whitman won’t talk to the press.

Good luck tonight, Californian!

Let’s Get Started

By Steve Poizner on June 22nd, 2009

Welcome to my new campaign website. It is your direct line to both the campaign and me. Rebuilding this state is going to take help from everyone, especially your friends and you. If my past has taught me anything, it’s that when you want to accomplish great things, you are always stronger if you can bring together a team of people to achieve their common goals. The fact is that our problems in California are too big for any one man or woman to solve. That’s why I’m asking you to join my team so we can work together to solve these problems.

One reason I want you to join this campaign is because out of all the candidates running for Governor in either party, I’m the only one who has actually cut waste from state government. I’m proud of that accomplishment because when I arrived at the Department of Insurance, I was told that I could simply raise fees, as they had done in the past, to solve any budget problems. But I knew then, as I know now, that pushing a problem into the future doesn’t actually mean the problem has been solved. I’m running for Governor because I want to begin to solve our state’s problems the first day I step into office, not push reforms off for future generations.

For far too long, the leadership in Sacramento has governed without listening to the people of California; can you believe that they are trying to raise your taxes again? I refuse to let that happen on my watch; I’m not the type of person who thinks that the business of governing should be done behind closed doors. I hope you’ll utilize the social networking tools on this website to share with me your thoughts on how we can change California. You can send me a tweet on Twitter or a message on Facebook.

When I ran for office in 2004, I knocked on more than 10,000 doors just to ask people to join my team. I’m asking you today to step up and stand with me as I run for Governor. Together, we can revive our economy, create jobs and give our children an education that will prepare them for the high-tech world that we already live in. I know that California is worth fighting for; if you believe the same thing, then join me and together we’ll fight to rebuild our state and restore fiscal responsibility to Sacramento.

Sincerely,
Steve
