Steve Poizner brings a unique background and perspective to state government. He has developed cutting edge technologies such as the GPS chips found in cell phones, created and run several very successful high tech companies in the Silicon Valley and been a leader in education reform. Today Poizner serves as California’s Insurance Commissioner, a statewide elected position in which he regulates the fourth largest insurance market in the world.
After years in business and now with a keen understanding of how government operates, Poizner feels the following plans are realistic ways to assess the issues facing California.

Budget
Steve Poizner has a plan to close the state’s over $20 billion General Fund budget gap and ensure that the state avoids future deficits. The Poizner Budget Plan combines the economic growth spurred by his Jobs Plan, the fiscal discipline promoted by his 10-10-10 Plan, and newly announced hiring, debt, and spending freezes, to close the budget gap.
